A Life in Music: From Sofia to Prague and Beyond
Strachil Gajdarski discovered his love for music at the age of 14, inspired by blues and rock legends such as Eric Clapton and B.B. King. His passion for jazz led him to the National Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov,” in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he majored in Pop and Jazz Guitar and refined his improvisational skills.
During his academic years, he founded the SG Fusion Quartet, showcasing original compositions that blended jazz, blues, and fusion elements.
In 2004, he earned a spot in Raycho Ivanov’s jazz band at the Municipal Institute of Culture “Hope” in Sofia. Two years later, he joined Hristo Yotsov’s quintet, leading to the release of the critically acclaimed album Seven Steps in 2009.
Since 2010, Strachil has been based in Prague, Czechia, where he actively contributing to the city’s vibrant music scene.He founded the international band X-Ground, blending various genres into a unique fusion sound. He is also an active collaborator with Varhan Orchestrovič Bauer’s fusion band and the eclectic Mr. Loco, which merges pop, reggae, and Balkan influences.
In 2018, Gajdarski released his album Into the Future in collaboration with Hristo Yotsov and Dimitar Karamfilov, further cementing his reputation as an innovative guitarist with a distinctive ability to fuse modern jazz elements with rich improvisational depth.
Beyond his band projects, he has cultivated a compelling acoustic duo with Slovakian singer Luci Radecka, exploring intimate interpretations of jazz, blues, and bossa nova.
Their collaboration highlights deep musical sensitivity, offering captivating performances steeped in melodic storytelling and improvisational brilliance.
A dedicated guitarist and sideman, Strachil remains open to new musical ventures, always ready to bring his dynamic style and creative vision to jazz fusion projects on both stage and in the studio.
